    Hello again,
Is it possible to install windows xp after ubuntu is installed? I see many tutorials for doing it the other way so I'm wondering if it's possible to accomplish this? I have an 8.04 box that I would like to install xp pro on but have way too much data on the system to simply perform a fresh install. Thanks in advance!

No, this isn't possible because Windows always thinks it is the only OS on the system and therefore overwrites the bootloader which means you won't be able to boot Ubuntu anymore. Therefore you must first install Windows, then Ubuntu (or any other distro).

    XP after Ubuntu install.

Hi thanks guys for all the responses, I managed to convince my customer to allow me to perform a fresh install of both xp and ubuntu, it actually took less time than it would have to hacked it. Thanks again!
