In the guide at http://www.howtoforge.com/perfect_server_ubuntu7.10 for the ip address do I enter the IP of my computer or the IP of my router(external IP)?

configure your local address with your outgoing hostname provided by your isp.

 

outgoing hostname? What's that?

 

Use the IP address that you see in the output of

If you're in a local network, this will be a local IP address.
