(Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS (Trusty Tahr)) ISPConfig 3.0.5.4p3

I am keen to hear from anyone who can help with 2 issues I'm having.

First let me say that I installed on a fresh Ubuntu 14.04 box using this guide: http://www.howtoforge.com/perfect-s...2-php-mysql-pureftpd-bind-dovecot-ispconfig-3

That was a total failure... Squirellmail didn't work and going to https://mydomain.tld:8080 just displayed a directory. With the same result after starting from scratch.

Then I used this guide: https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-install-ispconfig3-on-an-ubuntu-14-04-server

I was able to get the login and create sites etc but phpmyadmin won't allow me to log in with newly created users, except for root.

Also, squirellmail just doesn't work... page not found error.

Would be really nice if someone had an auto-install script which 'actually' worked - I have wasted 2 whole days trying to get this installed... very frustrating!

I'm on the verge of giving up and going back to WHM which I despise with a vengeance but it actually works. I don't mind paying for ISPConfig but will it actually work? and am I going to have to spend countless hours to get it going?

Sure. As you see we have a active community, several new features and bugfixs get implemented in ispconfig every week as you can ses on our git server and our administrators are answering questins here in the forum on every business day and install ispconfig dialy for our customers. ISPConfig is one of the most widely used server controlpanels worldwide, we have about 40 thousand installs and updates a month and a installation base of several hundred thousand servers.

I'am sorry to hear that it did not work for you. We test the guide several times a week as our administrators use it to copy /paste the commands from it. Personally I used it 3 days ago and it worked out of the box, so I'am sure that the guide is ok.

It is highly recommended that you copy / paste the commands to ensure that you have no typos in the commands. If something does not work as expected, then either a command has been left out or a file has not been dedited as described in the guide. in any case, you can find the reason for the issues in the log file of the service that has the problem, e.g. in the apache log file.

If you have problems in installing ISPConfig yourself, then please contact our business support to order an install made by our administrators. You can reach the ISPConfig business support here:

    Thanks Till,

I have removed and re-installed phpmyadmin and squirrelmail... now it all works fine. Only headache now is the password-change for squirrelmail.

ISPConfig is great... when it works :)

Do you plan an auto-install script in the near future? I have installed 4 so far and there is always something to fix, admittedly it's a 'user' error, hence why a script to automate the whole process would be very handy.

    Cheers,
    John

    Which one did you use?

Yes, we are working on a autoinstall script. the Problem with autoinstallers is that they only work reliably if you have a clean base system and that not alwaysthe case as some server hosters have really strange "minimal" images and on those systems, it is easier to fix a problem when doing a manual install then using a autoinstaller. But nevertheless we will provide on ein future.
