Hey everyone, actually i want to move from my CLI based webserver to something like ISPconfig, cause i will host a bunch of customers in the future and want to simplify some management, mostly for the customers themself. On a CLI base it was easy for me, but it's not for customers. My question is as simple as it is: Is the installation of the Mail components optional or is it needed for something? As some of the customers would need things like CalDAV/CardDAV i would like to use Mailcow for that part and would like to save that resources of a mailserver that's in idle when there is a standalone mailserver system like Mailcow in use. The only thing i can find about is the auto installer that gives me that opportunity to not use mail on THAT system: Code: --no-mail Do not use ISPConfig on this server to manage mailserver settings. This will install postfix for sending system mails, but not dovecot and not configure any settings for ISPConfig mail. It implies --no-mailman. but it does not answer if i can dismiss it completely. Best regards Traezi
Every function within ISPConfig is optional. You can install it as webserver only, sql server only, dns only, mailserver only. That's how ISPConfig multiserver environments are created. Each node with it's own function. The only thing no node can go without is a sql server and database which holds ISPConfig's config. And you'll always need a node with a webserver to host the ISPConfig panel for configuration purposes.
