I have a question regarding the "is mirror of server" setting in the ispconfig servers tab.

This checkbox is normally used for setting up a primary and secondary DNS servers.

Does it apply to other services as well ? For example is I have two servers that are acring as both www, mail and dns servers, what will be mirrored when I enable the "is mirror of server 1" on server 2?

    Thank you.

This setting applies o all services, not just dns servers. All configuration settings and changes that were made on server 1 are mirrored to server 2. See e.g. ispconfig cluster tutorial.

    Thanks for the quick answer.

I had a quick look at the cluster tutorial (which is using glusterfs for data replication).

If I understand correctly, when you say "configuration settings and changes" you mean the config files for dns (zones) and the config files for www/mail only.

The actual data (i.e. mail spool dirs / web root directory) need to be synchronized with other means (i..e gluster/drbd/nfs etc etc).

    is that correct?

Yes. Thats described in the cluster guide.

Normally you dont have to mirror mail spool dirs, its enough to mirror /var/vmail as described in the guide.
