Is safe to disable ClamAV?

    Hello

    I see that ClamAV is taking a lot of memory and cpu so i plan to disable it, is it safe to disable? Can ClamAV mess my ispconfig configuration or make something to not function proprely?

    If it's safe, can you please post some step-by-step instructions to disable it in Debian 7?

    I had the same problem which is a shame given it was doing a good job but my VPS simply hasnt got enough RAM for it (500mb).

    To disable i edited:-

    /etc/amavis/conf.d/50-user

    and commented out the bypass virus checks map line

    #@bypass_virus_checks_maps = (
    # \%bypass_virus_checks, \@bypass_virus_checks_acl,$bypass_virus_checks_re);

    (on mine its the first few lines).

    Then save, stop the clam services and restart amavis.

    Is this still suitable for ISPconfig 3.1 (in my case on Ubuntu 16.04 and 18.04)?
