Is Ubuntu getting more popular than Debian here?

    Hello,

I've been subscriber for years and when I started Debian distro was "popular" at the time. Now when I go through different tutorials it seems like mostly are for Ubuntu. I'm on Debian 8 now and when I have my main website converted to php 7 I was thinking to switch to Debian 9 but I'm rethinking if I should focus on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS instead?

    Thanks in advance!

Personally, I'll keep using Debian. But Ubuntu is not a bad choice too. Ubuntu 18.04 will be released soon, as that's the next LTS release, I would wait for that release if the installation is not urgent.

Thank you! Your reply answered all my questions. I will also stick with Debian and install Ubuntu 18.04 LTS when it comes out end of April on my ESXi.
