Hi folks We're using ISPConfig 2 on a Server for some years now and would like to make use of an intranet now, also using ISPConfig 2. How could we set up the intranet server fetching emails from the live web server? We would want to download the emails to the intranet server, for every existing user, so all mail clients can be setup to use imap.192.168.0.11 This should work for sending and receiving email! Can this be done? Or is there a solution out there we should use instead? Cheers & Thanks
In general, this can be done with ipconfig 2, but you will have to configure fetchamil (the app that gets the emails from your external server) manually on the shell, as it is not configurable in the ispconfig interface. My recommendation is that you use ISPConfig 3 instaed of ispconfig 2, as ispconfig 3 has options to configure getmail ( a fetchmail replacement) from within the interface.
Yeap, would need some sort of GUI, as more people need to be able to work with it—but have never touched ISPConfig 3 ;-) Is there a current VM somewhere I could play with for starters… Could only find: ISPconfig webhosting appliance (Ubuntu server 10.04 32-bit, ISPconfig 3.0.2.1) Cheers
Just some feedback to myself ;-) I've gone the SBS(Small Business Server) way, with all the bells and whistles… http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zentyal Also liked: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ClearOS A bit too old, but still going strong: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SME_Server Cheers
Just a feedback I installed ISPConfig 2 as an intranet mail server in my client's office. There is no problem at all --- I have even created a "false" domain for them so that they can send mails amongst themselves thru this intranet server.
