    Hello

I upgraded to ISPConfig 2.2.36 on both my test server and then my live server and everything appeared to go well however I have now noticed that I cannot connect to the courier mail server. I can send email but I cannot receive it. I get a connection timed out error.

I have restarted courier successfully and can tracert to my mail server and ISPConfig shows that all services are running fine and port 995 is open. I can even log in and use webmail but I cannot recieve with my mail client.

This is what is written to the mail.log when I send an email to myself and then attempt to receive:

May 30 10:00:16 first postfix/smtpd[31972]: warning: 123.456.789.123 (NB: changed IP): hostname 123.456.789.123.dynamic.rev.aanet.com.au verification failed: Name or service not known

    ISPConfig 2 upgrade - update

    Hi all

Just an update to my last post - it seems that I cannot use pop-ssl on 995 anymore but I can receive email on port 110.

Any idea how I can revert back to ssl?

Also, SMTP is not as stable as I thought - now giving everyone time-out issues.

Checking the logs I see some fatal errors:

May 30 12:39:16 first postfix/smtpd[4769]: fatal: file /etc/postfix/main.cf: parameter default_privs: unknown user name value: nobody

On trying to restart postfix I get this error:

Stopping Postfix Mail Transport Agent: postfixpostfix: fatal: file /etc/postfix/main.cf: parameter default_privs: unknown user name value: nobody

I have checked main.cf and there is not parameter "default_privs" or value "nobody".

And in trying to restart saslauthd I get:

    first:~# /etc/init.d/saslauthd restart
    Stopping SASL Authentication Daemon: saslauthd.
Starting SASL Authentication Daemon: saslauthdinstall: invalid user `root'
    .

And in reading Falko's advice to someone else with the default_privs issue I checked ispconfig.log and see a bunch of warnings started popping up this afternoon:

I'm starting to think I screwed up something quite badly during the upgrade somehow.

The ispconfig 2 update does not change the postfix or courier configuration, but maybe a harddisk partition is full.

    1) Have you installed updates of your linux distribution too?
    2) Please post the output of:

    df -h

I did update and upgrade before running the ISPConfig update.

I can no longer get shell access to my box - Putty comes back with "Server unexpectedly closed network connection". Nor can I FTP to it. I could do both of these things even after the mail issues started.

I can log into ISPConfig and the box is not full:

Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted
    /dev/sda1 49G 6.4G 40G 14% /
    tmpfs 256M 0 256M 0% /lib/init/rw
    udev 256M 464K 256M 1% /dev
    tmpfs 256M 0 256M 0% /dev/shm

and all services are running. I think I might have to do a restore back to before I ran the Debian updates.

Just an update - it seems that some of the services have become corrupted - this is a VPS and I have had the hosting company check it at their end and they rebooted it and got the following:

I can no longer access ISPConfig. I may have to ask them to rebuild the VPS and start over unless anyone has any other ideas before I make the plunge.

Looks as if the /etc/passwd or /etc/shadow file is corrupted. Do you have a backup of the system that contains the /etc directory?

I do have the option to restore from a HyperVM backup (the day before) but am afraid what to over-write and what to leave alone.

I have managed to restore my system from the backup and everything is working as it should except for ISPConfig. When I went to log in I got the following warnings:

    Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: open(/tmp/sess_7e9e4143e9604155f5bc1f1144a270e4, O_RDWR) failed: Permission denied (13) in /home/admispconfig/ispconfig/web/login.php on line 29

Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: Cannot send session cache limiter - headers already sent (output started at /home/admispconfig/ispconfig/web/login.php:29) in /home/admispconfig/ispconfig/web/login.php on line 29

Because I had restored from the backup, ISPConfig was the old version so I decided to update. After running through the setup script I got the following:

    All prerequisites are fulfilled.
    Here we go...

    Connected successfully to db db_ispconfig
    mysqldump: Couldn't execute 'show fields from `del_status`': Can't create/write to file '/tmp/#sql_27f2_0.MYI' (Errcode: 13) (1)

ServerName takes one argument, The hostname of the server
/root/ispconfig/httpd/bin/apachectl startssl: httpd could not be started
No results found!ISPConfig system is now up and running!
Congratulations! Your ISPConfig system is now installed. If you had to install quota, please take the steps described in the installation manual. Otherwise your system is now available without reboot.

So now ISPConfig is running but I cannot log in and I don't believe the install completed as I didn't get to the point of building Apache etc.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Looks as if your /tmp folder is full. Before you try to update again, run alsways

    mkdir /root/ispconfig/

That folder already exists. Do you mean to delete it?

No, do not delete it. If it exists, then it is ok.

I thought I could get around the issue by running a partial uninstall of ISPConfig but /root/ispconfig/uninstall returns "no results found".

I'd been keen to solve this if you have any suggestions. Sorry to push.

    What are the outputs of
    Code:
    df -h
    and
    Code:
    ls -la /tmp
    ?

    df -h gives:

Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
    /dev/sda1 49G 16G 31G 34% /
    tmpfs 256M 0 256M 0% /lib/init/rw
    udev 256M 464K 256M 1% /dev
    tmpfs 256M 0 256M 0% /dev/shm

    and ls -la /tmp gives:

Should I empty the /tmp folder?

Having seen all those old sessions in the tmp directory I cleaned them out and re-ran the installer but I still get stuck at:

    mysqldump: Couldn't execute 'show fields from `del_status`': Can't create/write to file '/tmp/#sql_1283_0.MYI' (Errcode: 13) (1)
cp: cannot stat `customized_templates/*': No such file or directory
    Restarting some services...
    Shutting down ISPConfig system...
/root/ispconfig/httpd/bin/apachectl stop: httpd (no pid file) not running
    ISPConfig system stopped!
    Starting ISPConfig system...
Syntax error on line 1073 of /root/ispconfig/httpd/conf/httpd.conf:
ServerName takes one argument, The hostname of the server
/root/ispconfig/httpd/bin/apachectl startssl: httpd could not be started
No results found!ISPConfig system is now up and running!

And even though this message said it is up and running, when I try to go to the ISPConfig page :)81) I cannot connect to remote server.

Any thoughts on what I could try?

    Can you post the full
    Code:
    ls -la /tmp
output? I also need to know the permissions of the /tmp folder itself.

Hard disk space doesn't seem to be an issue - there's enough free space.
