Today i noticed my mail system do not work. I'm using 3.0.2.1 version, on CentOS 5.4 (x64). Two days ago i made yum upgrade. It worked fine till today. When i check the mailbox seems empty (there was no problem with authentication). When i login to the box i have found amavis is dead. So i start it again with: /etc/init.d/amavisd start After that i made /etc/init.d/amavisd status and the result is: amavisd (pid 27364 27048 25059) is running... amavis-milter is stopped Is it ok? After that operation there still was no any mail when i authenticate, so i made "manual update" process. After that... All my emails appear on the mailbox, and i downloaded them (with thunderbird). What can be wrong? Is there any way to "skip" amavis somehow? I read all over the net that it makes maaaany problems for a lot of users (i checked config file etc., it's far away from KISS ideology that i love).
yes. Check your syslog, check for kernel errors etc. You can comment out the content_filter line in postfoix main.cf, but you will loose a lot of functions like antivirus and spam filtering then. Amavis very reliable and is normally not causing problems. Please be aware that you find always posts about problems here as users without a problem dont post here I rtun amavis on several mailservers without a single problem for several years.
