I am running a debian etch server, which I have setup according to Falko' s howto "The perfect setup - Debian Etch". Since webailzer seems to be a little bit ancient, I would like to use awstats instead. Now I wonder what is the best method to install awstats, so it will work with ispconfig. Should I follow this howto? Install AWStats With Some PlugIns On A Server With ISPConfig Or use this script? Configuring Awstats for ispconfig I think the first one is more secure, since stats cannot be accessed by unauthorized users. But I am afraid that either way I will have problems updating awstats. Therefore I would prefer to use apt-get, Debian Etch has an awstats package. I think it is not the latest awstats version either, but it should be more up to date than the packages used in above howtos. I just noticed that the package used in the first howto is outdated. I also found this awstats installer: http://www.howtoforge.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7293&highlight=awstats+ispconfig The user' s website is: http://jnsc.ch/ispconfig.php There you get a new version of the package which was used in the first howto. As far as I can see, it depends on awstats 6.7. So it is even newer than the Debian Etch package (which seems to be build on 6.5). So for now, the prefered install would be jnsc' s installer. But nobody knows how long the user will support his installer, so that you might better use the Debian package. What do you recommend? (I am not bind to awstats, if there is a better option, I will look into it. I must admit, that webalizer already shows most stats I am interested in.)
