Hi I am using Debian Sarge 3.1 and trying to install ISPconfig but I cannot as it fails. How do I review the error logs to determine where my problems are? The messages on the screen that I can see appears that php binary coming with the ISPconfig does not work properly on my system. The installation routine stops here! But there are other errors but I cannot work out what they are. Amy help will be appreciated.
Yes I did. However, I did have a problem with saslauthd. I was getting an error Starting SASL Authentication Daemon: (failed) I have ignored that problem for the present. Otherwise, everything I have done appears to be fine.

The installation routine stops here! As you can see, I have made two attempts to install ISPConfig and it stops at the same place. Is this a hardware problem?
Can you post the real error messages from the installation process, not from the log? From which directory do you try to install?
saslauthd Some time ago i had a problem too with getting saslauthd. The thread as described here was my solution to solve the problem: http://www.howtoforge.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3917&highlight=saslauthd Maybe it works for you too, you can give it a try.

The installation routine stops here! job-working-directory: could not get current directory: getcwd: cannot access parent directories: No such file or directory The file ISPConfig.tar.gz is in my root directory where I run the command tar xvfz ISPCongfig*.tar.gz I then enter the command cd install_ispconfig Then run ./setup This is as per the ISPConfig setup instructions.

You don't need to post the complete output here, just the last 100 or so lines that contain the real error.
In my last entry, I was requesting HOW to capture these lines of output. Is there a file that this information is recorded? I do not know how to capsture the lines of output that is displayed on the screen. How is this done?
If you use a SSH client like putty to connect to your server, you can mark the lines with your mouse and then paste it to to the forum or a text editor.

It seems you entered something wrong when you tried to create the certificate. Please try to accept the default values.
Tx for the info. I think I was not putting in any information for creating the certificate. Country etc. I entered a . which was for a 'blank' entry.This appears to be not acceptable. Maybe the instructions at this point should be more clear, or not allow a 'blank' entry. Well, now I have progressed with the installation but I am stuck on MySQL Please enter the IP address of the ISPConfig web: 192.169.1.4 Please enter the host name: www Please neter the domain XXX.com The URL is not reachable! As far as I can see, the entered detail is correct. Is there an obvious error that I am making? Tx in advance for the help.
Make sure www.XXX.com can be pinged. This implies that there's an A record for www.XXX.com, or that www.XXX.com is listed in /etc/hosts, and that your firewall doesn't block pings. The ISPConfig installer tries to ping www.XXX.com to make sure it exists.
