I just finished installing a clean ubuntu 7.04 system (which has no GUI) and installing ISPConfig. I need to login to the interface from a web browser, but this is the only computer on the LAN, and with no GUI that's a little difficult. Assume the following configuration: Server is at Office, I am trying to configure from home. Ordinarily I would be able to connect to ISPConfig's administration via https://192.168.0.254, but in this case here I'm trying to connect via https://www.mydomain.com:81, which kicks back with "server is taking long to respond" So if any of you guru's out there have any ideas on how I can work around this, short of plugging a 2nd computer into the same LAN as the server, I'd appreciate it.
Have you thought about forwarding port 81 from your router to yours erver, then you will be able to login from home over the internet to the ISPConfig controlpanel.
port 81 *is* forwarded on my router, and when I try to connect from outside of the server's local network, i get a "page not found" error. The only way that I can connect to the ISPConfig page is from inside the local network.
Please make sure that port 81 on the router is forwarded to port 81 on the server and not to port 80 or 443.
