Hello, ISPC is working very well on my CentOS 5 installation. But I am running it on a home network, and I want to add a website (Yes I can't at the moment) and what to fill in? Such as DNS, hostname and so on. And if that question is answered, I want that the websites are accessible from the InTRAnet and the Internet. How must I do that? What I have done by myself: 1) Hanging around on Howtoforge, and found this topic as helpfull, but that didn't the trick. 2) Google as my best friend.. 3) Reading the help pdf Any help would be appreciated!
Nobody have experience with ISPConfig in a home network for testing? I search everywhere but can't find the answers. Thanks before!
If you web site is www.example.com, fill in www as the hostname and example.com as the domain. You must create an A record for www.example.com on the authoritative name server for the example.com domain. It must point to your router's public IP address, and your router must forward port 80 (http) to your ISPConfig server. If you just want to test in your intranet, you can simply add www.example.com to your client PC's hosts file: http://www.howtoforge.com/forums/showthread.php?t=432&highlight=hosts+file+windows
Thanks, its working now, the client can acces the control panel by using the lanip:81. But sorry, where can he acces his website? http://lanip/clientid or something? I cant figure out. Oké thanks, I know how to do that. Instead of that I use the IP, but thanks. But someone know, how the client can acces his page in the same lan network? e.g. must he use a prefix or something? ~clientid?
You can not access the sites by IP address. Thatswhy flko told you to add it to the hosts file. The websaites are name based, so you must use the domain name to access a site.
Yes, I know. But - I dont want to interrupt you - when I buy an account from my hosting company, I receive a email where he tells me: "you can acces your account with this ip: 100.100.100.100/~accountname, and when the domainregistration is done, you can acces it from the domainname you have buy: www.example.com." (That hoster uses DirectAdmin) Do you get now why I ask that twice times I think every time, have ISPC such an option? Thanks
You can even ask this a third or fourth time The answer remains the same. Falko and I told you the options on how to access a ISPConfig website.
Thanks for the reply, its very easy as said by falko in the topic he gives. But what if I am a hoster, the hoster says, you have to wait a day my dear costumer for the domainregistration, DNS.. (You know a costumer wants to have acces to the website the same time as he paid a hosting-plan). Thats not a good point I think, but thats critical. I have to say, I like ISPConfig, the usability, how its organized, the support on this forum, and the feeling when I use it. Thanks.
Then you e.g. add temporary a domain or subdomain of your own domain to the webspace of the customer.
