    I got up to this point and the install crashed:

    ########## make ##########

    ERROR: make not found!
    root@localhost:/install_ispconfig#

    what is make, and how do i get it there?

    As many of you can probably tell I am very new to doing anything that doesn't involve shiny windows buttons for everything

    Looks as you missed step 9 in the howto, at the top of this page:

    http://www.howtoforge.com/perfect_setup_ubuntu704_p4

    Code:
    apt-get install binutils cpp fetchmail flex gcc libarchive-zip-perl libc6-dev libcompress-zlib-perl libdb4.3-dev libpcre3 libpopt-dev linux-kernel-headers lynx m4 make ncftp nmap openssl perl perl-modules unzip zip zlib1g-dev autoconf automake1.9 libtool bison autotools-dev g++
