Hi, I have a ISPConfig web server in multiple server configuration. I would like to implement ipv6 to this web server and would like to know more about the configuration and setting Q1: What should i do to make thei web server to support ipv6? Q2: Beside assigning the ipv6 address to the network card, is there anything else i need to do? Q3 : After i point my dns name (eg : ipv6.domain.com) to the new ipv6 address, will the ISPConfig application know how to resolve the hostname o ip add properly? Thanks in advance Philip Viewqwest Pte Ltd
1) All current Linux distributions support IPv6, so all you have to do is that you add the IPv6 addresses to the network configuration of your server. On Debian and Ubuntu it is the file /etc/network/interfaces. 2) No. 3) ISPConfig is a hosting controlpanel, it does not resolve names. Name resolving is done by a dns client and as all linux distributions support IPv6 already, name resolving for IPv6 should work out of the box.
