Hi all, i'm installing ISPConfig on a virtual server (Xen domU) and i'm interested in having another separate virtual server (another Xen domU) for mail and dns services. This is to avoid having all of the services on one and the same (virtual) server. Is it possible to configure usage of another mail and dns servers when setting up ISPConfig 3, without installing ISPConfig on both? Thanks a lot in advance!
ISPConfig server part has to be installed on all servers, the interface has only to be installed on the master server of course.
Thanks for prompt answer!!! But i'm not sure what this means. ISPconfig to be installed on all servers, but not the services?
The services have to be installd too of course. If you dont install any services in a virtual machine, then its empty and then there is nothing to be configured. So installing no services in a virtual machine that shall provide specific services just makes no sense.
Sorry, i did not formulate my last reply correctly. What i meant was is it necessary to install ALL the services on BOTH servers when you are not going to use one and the same service from both servers? Server1: ISPconfig, Apache, MySQL Server2: DNS, Postfix, FTP Is this possible? Or do i have to install all of the services on both servers and then just ignore whichever that isn't needed?
Generally, you only have to install the services that you want to run on that server. But some services are needed on every server, thats mysql, php and at least a minimal postfix setup.
