I read about all those advanced DNS security features on a program called Simple DNS Plus it's only for windows:

DNS spoofing, Ignore UDP packets from port zero, Detect cloose telnet connections, Maximum simultaneous inbound TCP connections, Maximum recursive DNS requests to resolve simultaneously.

Are those functions enabled by default in ISPconfig installation?

Also, I'm using Centos 5.1 how do I update my machine with most current updates and should I do it because I read that certain updates can break ISPconfig functionality

ISPConfig uses BIND and not Simple DNS.

I know that it doesn't use Simple DNS it's for windows, but I ask for comparison to Simple DNS, does it provide the same security features by default or I need to enable them?

If I need to enable them could you tell me how then

I see we got a little misunderstanding here, let me clarify thing up:

I want to know if installation of centos 5.1 with ispconfig panel by default provides same security like the features I wrote:

    1. DNS spoofing
    2. Ignore UDP packets from port zero
    3. Detect cloose telnet connections
    3. Maximum simultaneous inbound TCP connections
    4. Maximum recursive DNS requests to resolve simultaneously

Those features are listed at simple dns website so in centos 5.1 with ispconfig panel by default am I protected againt those attacks?

ISPConfig uses a default bind configuration with no additional config options. More information about bind can be found here.

    http://www.isc.org/index.pl?/sw/bind/index.php

Bind is the most widely used nameserver on the internet.
