Hi, I have been using ISPConfig3 since its release, however I've just got a slightly less powerful VPS (512Mb RAM) to run sites + mail for a few of my own domains. I have my key services configured to use suitable amounts of memory, however clam-daemon takes me over the 512MB limit. I have essentially followed "The Perfect Server - Debian Lenny (Debian 5.0) [ISPConfig 3]". Am I right in thinking that I can just omit the clamav parts of section 10 to get: apt-get install amavisd-new spamassassin zoo unzip bzip2 arj nomarch lzop cabextract apt-listchanges libnet-ldap-perl libauthen-sasl-perl daemon libio-string-perl libio-socket-ssl-perl libnet-ident-perl zip libnet-dns-perl Which should allow spamassassin to continue to operate via amavisd-new, unless i've missed something or ISPC messes with some config.
Yes, that should work. Amavisd detects automatically if clamav is installed or not and will just work without clamav if it does not find a installed version. If you have very low email traffic and still want to have antivirus scanning for email it might be an option to install clamav without the server / daemon part, in that case amavisd will start a clamav process only when a new email arrives and quits clamav ofter the email got scanned.
