I just need to manage website hosting, clients and resellers, and apache/mysql/php/sftp will suffice, I don't need to manage DNS and E-mail. I would also prefer ch'rooted SFTP over FTP/FTPS. Is it possible to install ISPConfig without Bind, Dovecot, Mailman, pureftp and configure postfix to only send administrative e-mails? Will ISPConfig complain during installation or misbehave later on? Thanks in advance for your kind suggestions! Gabriele
Yes, thats possible. just use expert mode in the ispconfig installer, the installer will then ask yu which services shall eb configured. But I recommend to install pureftpd as its a ftp server, pure ftp offers chrooted ftps which the ssh sftp logins are not chrooted, so pureftp is the better alternative here.
Thanks a lot for your kind reply. In The Perfect Server - Debian Wheezy (Apache2, BIND, Dovecot, ISPConfig 3), step 17, Jailkit is suggested, so I guess ISPConfig will let me manage SFTP/SSH chrooted logins… right? Gabriele
ispconfig hs ssh chrooted logins. sftp chrooted will work too, but the sftp dependencies are not in the jail by default, so you will have to add the files under system server config > jailkit that are required for sftp.
