Lately I've tried to install Ispconfig but it complained that postfix is not install. Actually I'm not interested in providing mail server accounts

You can switch off Postfix after ISPConfig installation, but it must be installed for ISPConfig.

Just another question, right now I have a mail server with dovecot instead courier. If I implement mail server in the same server where ispconfig is running can I still use dovecot? I used workaround's howto to set it up. Which one do you prefere?

Dovecot is a POP3/IMAP server and no SMTP server, so you can install an SMTP server (such as Postfix) without problems.
