Ubuntu 14.04 uses Apache 2.4 which have different DocumentRoot than older versions.

You can change the default DocumentRoot path in the httpd.conf file

    Srijan,
    Your link is showing http://192.168.1.x/joomla/index.php

I know how to do that.

I want to make as when I type http://localhost it it will be showing my website like http://localhost/index.php not http://localhost/joomla/index.php

    See my original question

I have running joomla on my local like
    http://192.168.1.111/joomla/index.php

    I don't want this

    what I want is http://192.168.1.111/index.php

    Edit the file

Find the line for DocumentRoot and then change the default as per your desired path.
