    Hello,

I am trying to get the Joomla tutorial working on my Ubuntu 11.10 vmachine. I followed all of the steps in the tutorial with the exception of the hostname. The server has an FQDN of "joomla.lan.local", replacing www.example.com. Whenever I try to get to the installation directory/screen on the server, I just get the "Welcome to nginx!" home page. The server uses an internal DNS server for it's primary DNS server, which serves the wfnnj.local domain. I am trying to get to the web-page via IP address and not hostname (192.168.0.1/installation/).

    Thanks

That's the problem. You must use the hostname (joomla.lan.local), not the IP, because if you use the IP, the default vhost is served.
