Hello, is there a way to keep ssl configuration in dovecot.conf during ispconfig upgrade? We lost customized ssl_cert, ssl_key and ssl_ca settings in dovecot.conf. Thanks for any idea.
Yes, copy the template from the ISPConfig install package path install/tpl/debian6_dovecot2.conf.master (file name depends on your distribution, of course) to your local /usr/local/ispconfig/conf-custom/install/ Then make your modifications in that file and that one will be used on further updates. Keep in mind to compare the file to the one from new releases regularly.
Hi Marius, thank you for your advice. I didn't know about this option. But I still have to remember to check differences in ispconfig dovecot template. I added feature request for this: https://git.ispconfig.org/ispconfig/ispconfig3/issues/5345 Jan
What Marius described is the official way to do customizations of install templates written by ISPConfig and it's the way to be used if you want to have an altered dovecot template. Of course, you have to take care to keep your custom templates updated to stay compatible with new iSPConfig versions in future.
Hi Till, I understand what you mean. But in this case this way doesn't mean less work for administrator and it is what ISPConfig should do. Or nobody else use commercial SSL certificate with dovecot? Jan
