Hey guys, i'm new to this forum, but i decided to post because i was following one of the guides. < Debian-Kernel-Compile-Howto (Kernel 2.6) Version 1.1 Author: Falko Timme <ft [at] falkotimme [dot] com> Last edited 07/15/2005 > I understand its a little out of date, but this is what is going on... I am running debian, i just did the netinstall today.. I was trying to configure my wireless adapter so i was using ndiswrapper. I installed the drivers fine, but then.. Code: debian:/# modprobe ndiswrapper FATAL: Module ndiswrapper not found. So, i decided to download the sourcecode and compile it myself, yet another issue. Code: debian:/home/droogie/Desktop/Downloads/ndiswrapper-1.52# make install clean make -C driver install make[1]: Entering directory `/home/droogie/Desktop/Downloads/ndiswrapper-1.52/driver' Makefile:35: *** Cannot find kernel version in /lib/modules/2.6.18-6-486/build, is it configured?. Stop. make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/droogie/Desktop/Downloads/ndiswrapper-1.52/driver' make: *** [install] Error 2 So now, i decided to try to compile my own kernel, being new to linux i didnt know where to start so i followed that guide i found, everything was going fine, but right when i had to compile make menuconfig i got this.. Code: debian:/usr/src# make menuconfig make: *** No rule to make target `menuconfig'. Stop. debian:/usr/src# cd */ debian:/usr/src/linux-2.6.8.1# make menuconfig HOSTCC scripts/basic/fixdep HOSTCC scripts/basic/split-include HOSTCC scripts/basic/docproc HOSTCC scripts/kconfig/conf.o HOSTCC scripts/kconfig/mconf.o scripts/kconfig/mconf.c:91: error: static declaration of ‘current_menu’ follows non-static declaration scripts/kconfig/lkc.h:63: error: previous declaration of ‘current_menu’ was heremake[1]: *** [scripts/kconfig/mconf.o] Error 1 make: *** [menuconfig] Error 2 Does anyone happen to know whats going on? How can i fix this, and get ndiswrapper working for my wireless adapter? Or is there an updated kernel i can compile? Which version? Thanks, i appreciate all input. If you need anymore info just ask oh and by the way, here is the source to that mconf file...
