I have no idea what has happened, but after rebooting I get this during the boot: Please append a correct "root=" boot option Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: unable to mount root fs on unknown block (0,0) I did not even touch anything with kernel so I have no idea why I'm getting this.
Very strange. But if your problem is that you can't move from this situation, which distro do you use? You can use a "rescue cd, or floppy", boot and check what's wrong; you can recompile your kernel and so on; you can do what you want / need
