I'm trying to troubleshoot our server and want to upgrade to the latest version. Right now I issued the command uname -r and it responsed with version 2.4.26-1-386. After modifying the sources.list file to have the latest mirrors I tried issuing this command, apt-get install -t etch linux-image-2.6 Basically it responded as I need to explicity select one to install but the list was huge, not sure which one to choose, I know its not the amd64 version since I'm running a XEON server, any pointers. Would I just go apt-get install - t etch linux-image-2.6.18-6-686 Thank you. * Note ,could this be moved please I mistakingly added this to someones else's post, I'm sorry.
To be honest, I'm not sure if I'd try an upgrade from kernel 2.4 (Sarge) to kernel 2.6 (Etch)... At least I wouldn't try it without a backup.
