I am in the process of setting up a new Debian 5.0 Lenny based VMware 2.0 server and will follow your most excellent tutorial, however.... I would really appreciate some guidance for the addition of a monitored UPS to my reconfigured VMware 2.0 server. My investigations so far have discovered that the UPS has a Linux driver : Winpower_setup_Linux.tar.gz and that a pre-requisite is a Java Runtime Environment JRE1.3.1 Questions: Is there any security issue adding this JRE to a Debian Server? Is there any advantage finding the latest release from java.sun.com - I believe JRE 6 is the latest? Do you have a short tutorial on how to achieve this 'safely' and securely? Thanks in advance.
