    Good Morning,

I have a fresh install - dual-booting Win XP and Kubuntu. Was working well friday till I cancelled an update in the Linux GUI. Upon reboot into Kubuntu, I get an error: no screens found. So I tried startx command and same error. So I then run dpkg-reconfigure and I get error: /usr/sbin/dpkg-reconfigure must be run as root. It seems like I AM logged in as root. I logged in as the id I created when I installed kubuntu, which is sysadmin. I can do a cd / and it takes me to root. I dont know what the password is for root. Is root a default account that kubuntu creates when installing? If so, I do not know the password for root. Any ideas on what to do?

    sudo su -

will provide you root access from your normal user account.
