I have previously tried to install Linux with a virtual machine (no I don't remember which distribution, it was years ago). The class that I was taking at the time had a tutorial which had said that I would need a wireless card in order to get on the internet in the VM. I was never able to. I tried contacting my teacher to get help but I never got any. Now that I'm taking another Linux class, I was wondering if anyone here would have any tips on how to get it to work.

    Thanks!

I do not have a wireless card on any virtual machines I run or on the server they run on. That wireless requirement must have been for that particular setup back then.
Installing Linux on virtual machine is similar to installing linux on a real world computer.
Get some virtualization software, create vm with 2 GB memory and 20 GB disk and start installing. Ubuntu is good choice for first Linux.
