Hello to you all. I have setup ispconfig on ubuntu 7.04 and it all seems to be running well, but i have a few issues. 1. unable to access mail server from my local network. I am hosting my wife business site/mail and we need to be able to use outlook to access her mail, she on the same network as the server. 2.access to ftp is very slow or not at all. If i access the ftp server locally its very slow and I am unable to connect to the ftp server remotely it times out. 3. local access to site on server. is there a way of accessing the www sites on the server locally? I have tried a few ideas and nothing works. I had a NT server running a few years ago and I use the access it with http://10.0.0.1/~sitename/ (if 10.0.0.1 is the servers addy) is there something similar with ispconfig? 4. can not logon to webmail, have tried username as well as full e-mail addy but i keep getting this error "You cannot login with the username and password entered. Please check your username and password and try again. " I have a few other questions but I will get this stuff fixed first. thanks in advance David!
1) Use the internal IP of your server as pop3 server. 2) http://www.howtoforge.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6447&highlight=ftp+speed 3) http://www.howtoforge.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16174&highlight=windows+hosts 4) If you use courier or dovecot pop3 server, you will have to enable maildir under management > server > settings on the mail tab in ISPConfig.
till, Thankyou so much already.. you answered questions 3 and 4 perfectly. i still find the ftp to slow in general and connect connect remotly connection times out.. the e-mail issue I am still looking in to .. thanks again david
Like till liked (point 2) In the /etc/proftpd.conf file. Did you add IdentLookups off within the <Global> </Global> tag? Also.. Did you add UseReverseDNS off, and restarted ftpd?
now it is super fast.. thankyou too you both.. just have the mail left to sort out .. I am unsure of my problem but once i get my MX record sorted out on monday I will try it again thanks!!!
is there away for sending a test message to a mail box? for example: send to [email protected] but mx record is not setup yet. all i want to do is see if the clients can download mail fromt he server? thanks again!
If you install one of the webmail packages for ISPConfig, you will be able to send email to all local domains without needing a MX record.
