Windows PC's can't seem to find my ISPConfig3 email server, unless I edit the host file to include the local IP of my server. I was wondering if there was a way to broadcast the Netbios name on the workgroup so that all of the network computers will know where to connect? I am trying to get this done w/out having to edit host files if at all possible. E-mail flows in and out just fine, and I can connect to the server from outside the local network, but when I try and connect locally with Outlook and a remed out host file server IP, it fails. I am running ISPConfig3 3.0.1.6 on Ubuntu 9.04
Can your Windows PCs resolve the mail server hostname? Code: nslookup <hostname of your mailserver> The easiest solution would be to use the mail server's IP in Outlook instead of the hostname.
That does work, I would rather use the mail.mydomain.com if at all possible, one thing it might be is a firewall issue, which is being worked on atm. Windows is able to resolve the hostname.
