ok so I followed the virtual users postfix setup installation pretty much exactly. My problem is I try login to my email by typing telnet localhost 110
then I get the hello thing and it type user sales and the it says ok Pass required so I type pass secret, which is what I put in the database and it sits for a couple of seconds and then says Err: LOGIN Failed. If I do the same process with the username [email protected], which my domain configured in the mysql database and everywhere else and use the same password, It then says can't find dir rootsmart.homeip.net/sales/. Also I can't login from any mail client. What am I doing wrong?

You must login with your email address, not just with sales. Then you must send an email first to that account, because the necessary directories are created when the first mail arrives. Afterwards, you can log in with POP3.
