Hi, I recently upgraded my server to Debian Wheezy. Things seemed to work fine since I updated, but today a few Mac users told me, they can no longer send eMails from their iPhones and Mac PCs.. Whenever they try to send a mail, the mail programm tells them something about the password being wrong, tho it is 100% correct. They can send mail via the webinterface without any problem as well as receive mails with their iOS/Mac Mail program. Does anyone know what the issue could be? Cheers, Kira
Do you get any error in mail.log? Post the error message(s) that you get in the mail log file when the problem occurs. The mail log file is in the folder /var/log/, it is named "mail.log" on Debian
When trying to send a mail, the following lines appear in the mail.log: Code: Jun 16 14:11:25 kweb17 postfix/smtpd[4924]: connect from tmo.customers.d1-online.com[XX.XXX.XXX.XX] Jun 16 14:11:26 kweb17 postfix/smtpd[4924]: warning: tmo.customers.d1-online.com[XX.XXX.XXX.XX]: SASL PLAIN authentication failed: no mechanism available Jun 16 14:11:26 kweb17 postfix/smtpd[4924]: lost connection after AUTH from tmo.customers.d1-online.com[XX.XXX.XXX.XX] Jun 16 14:11:26 kweb17 postfix/smtpd[4924]: disconnect from tmo.customers.d1-online.com[XX.XXX.XXX.XX] Cheers, Kira
The ispconfig installer writes config files for services that suit the versions of the installed softare. if you install now new major versions of some software packages, then it can be that the ld configuration is nor compatible anymore and needs to be updated and thats what the ispconfig updater is doing when you run it and choose to reconfigure services.
