my mail server is taking about 2 hours to deliver mail inhouse and to other email users on the net don't know if its related to antivirus/spam filters or what any help would be appreciated Thanks in advance
Yesterday i have had the same problem. the "problem" at my server was, that the virus-scan of the mails took more time than emails arrived. means the server scans 5 mails in 5 minutes, but 10 mails arrived in 5 minutes (not real values...). at the end of yesterday i had 788 mails in the queue (command "mailq" at the terminal to see the queue). and 100% CPU and a lad of 200. the server was dead. after switching the virus-scan off the load is at 2-7. hope this helps
@vogelor To get down the load from antivirus scanning, please have a look at these threads: http://www.howtoforge.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12864 http://www.howtoforge.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12860 The current clamscan versions (0.90.x) consume much more processing power and memory then the 0.88.x versions.
