Is this normal ? I traced the ip to LA. To a place called example dot com. Are they trying to send me mail? and why is it timming out on port 25? because my server is blocking the mail? The router is open to that port. I do have a web1_admin e-mail account setup in the domain I have been trying to get going. But it is not @example.com. It is the domain I set up, but that is not showing. I can not figure out what is ok and what is not in this mail log. I guess it takes time to learn how to read them.
Do you use example.com somewhere else on your system? What's the output of Code: hostname -f ? What's in /etc/hosts? Your system is trying to send to example.com, but I think there's no mail server on example.com, that's why you have these connection problems.
Results Hostname -f is ok. It is my server1.myserver.com. the hosts are ok as well. It is just as I entered on setup.
mail message-host not found example.com is not in any place you told me to look. I checked the log today and it is still trying to send mail to [email protected]. This is after I went into the site I had set up and deleted the email account. I was thinking it was the email account that was sending out. It is the only email account I have setup under ispconfig. Now I have no emails setup and am still getting the (host not found) in the mail log. Any clue where this is coming from? thanks for all the info. entered latter I just restarted the server and when It was shutting down it gave error (shutting down postfix failed). then when I restarted the server it told me (setting default address for postfix to 127.0.0.1. Do I need to start a new thread for this or is it part of this mail issue I am dealing with?

You didn't post the beginning of the postconf output... These are the default Postfix settings that are used unless they are overridden by settings in /etc/postfix/main.cf.
post config I thought you wanted me to take out all the extras and just post the lines that were not # out. I posted all the lines that did not have a # in front of them. I can post the whole outcome if you like. Thanks
If you look at your postconf -d output, it starts with the r paramaters (relayhost, ...), so all parameters from a - q are not shown. You could run Code: postconf -d|more to scroll through the output, or run Code: postconf -d > postconf.txt and post the contents of postconf.txt.
