I'm not sure how to put this question. Some of my users on one of my servers are asking if it's possible to get an email setup like hotmail. What they want is one email address, that can be used by 3 other users (using outlook "express"), and that will sync the mail with all 3 users. It's exactly the same as when using a hotmail email address in Outlook (express) Anyone here who might know how this is done?
Hi Edge, As far as i know, Hotmail works via HTTP, but i don't know exactly how it's working. I know it's not what you mean - but I think if you use IMAP - the result is almost the same.
Thank you Hans, yes IMAP should work (why did I not think of this).. Now I need to find a way to make POP3 and IMAP work together as some users on that server would still like to use POP3. I think that I need to enable (in ISPconfig) Management > Server > Settings > Email > Maildir, but will POP3 still work when I do this?
On a default ISPCOnfig server, the only thing you have to do is open port 143, which is the port for IMAP. Your users can choose howto configure there email-client pop3 or IMAP. Pop3 and IMAP will work both.
