    Dear Guys,

I have just setup ISPConfig on a Debian4 server, based on the tutorials and howto's.
My problem is that when I create the main site of my company that will host websites, I cannot make ISPConfig to host on mydomain.hu and also on
    www.mydomain.hu.
I have read a lot of forum threads here, created co-domains, etc, but I still don't know why it is.
I have looked into the Vhosts_ispconfig.conf file, where for the vhost of my company domain there's a correct ServerAlias parameter like this:

    ServerAlias mydomain.hu anystring.mydomain.hu www.mydomain.hu

and both the mydomain.hu and anystring.mydomain.hu is working, but www.mydomain.hu doesn't work...

The server's name is the same, mydomain.hu. Maybe it can be a problem?
    (It is a VPS.)

I hope you will have an idea as soon as possible...

    Thank you in advance,
    Peter

If you run "ping www.mydomain.hu", does it return the same IP address then "ping mydomain.hu"?

    Thank you for your answer.
Yes, the ping returns the same IP in both cases.

What's the real domain name, and what's in Vhosts_ispconfig.conf?

    Thank you for your efforts!
In the last days I had no possibilities to deal with ISPConfig. Later I have tried another panel software, but I had other and more serious problems with that. So I've decided to switch back to ISPConfig, so it's reinstalled now.
It's strange, but fortunately now both www.mydomain.hu and mydomain.hu is working. I don't know what was the reason of the misoperation, I guess I was a lamer. :)
    Thank you again!

    404 error

    Hey Guys,

I joined the forum a while back but i never got around installing ISPCofig. But yesterday i install it on my new ubuntu server and i'm having exactly the same problem as mentioned by 'petya' in this post. I didn't know whether to start a new thread or post in this one.

The server has two ip addresses and one domain name.
When i enter the domain name or public IP address (within LAN) in the browser; I get the router main page.
When I enter the server IP address or http://domainname/users/web1_test or http://domainname/~web1_test (within LAN) I get '404 error'.

Please help, did I miss something when setting up ?

    Thanks in advance.

Please configure your router to forward port 80 to the IP of your server.

Thanks for getting back to me.
My router is configured to forward port 80 and 81 to the IP address of my server.

    What else can i check?

    Does that still happen?

    Yes it does still happen.

But the 2 server IP addresses now display "Shared IP " page.

And when I enter the domain name or public IP address (outside my LAN) in the browser; I get the "Shared IP” page.

I guess I’m getting closer to resolving the problem but I still can't get to my website.

Many thanks Falko for getting back to me.

Please make sure that you selcetd the internal IP address in the website settings in ISPConfig and not the external IP.

I have selected one of the internal IP addresses. Under ISP Site, IP address dropdown box. Is this the correct place?

Yes, thats correct. But you must select the IP where you forwarded port 80 too on the router. All other IP's will not work and just show the shared IP page.

It’s the one I have selected but I’m getting confusing results now; please see below:

    Outside my LAN:

    1. www.mydomain I get the IP Shared page.
    2. External IP address I get the IP Shared page.
    3. mydomain without the 'www' I get the welcome page . “This is the standard index of your website.”

    4. When I ping mydomain and www.mydomain they both return the same external IP address!

I can’t test within the LAN, I’m not at home at the moment.

Do you know why I can’t get to the Welcome page using www.mydomain and external IP address ?

Please add a Co-Domain www.mydomain.com to the mydomain.com web site in ISPConfig.

I added www.mydomain.com and external IP address to the Co-Domain which resolved both issues.

So my Co-Domain looks like this:

    IP >>>>>>>>>>>>> Hostname >>>>Damain
    Server IP address ----------- mydomain.com
    Server IP address ----------- www.mydomain.com
Server IP address ----------- External IP address

That works but I’m not sure whether the last entry is correct  !!

And does this mean that I will be able to see my website within the LAN?

Also I can't see the additional software (webmail and phpMyadmin) under tools; I'm sure I installed them!

    Thanks a lot guys

Now that i'm back at home, i can't access my website in the LAN:confused:

    1. When i enter the domain name or public IP address (within LAN) in the browser; I get the router main page.
    2. When I enter the server IP address or http://mydomain/users/web1_test or http://domainname/~web1_test (within LAN) I get '404 error'.

Please help, what do i need to change to see my website ?

    Many thanks

    PLease try tro access just:

    http://ww.yourdomain.tld/

and not one of the user sites. Make sure that you use the fully qulified hostname. Does it work?
