I installed the Mandriva 2009 live cd exactly like the directions in the perfect desktop. My desktop does not look like what shows on the set up page. There is no top panel with the applications, places and system etc. There is just one big panel at the bottom with the menu and other icons. How do I get the desk top to look like it is supposed to. When I set up the 2008 Mandriva everything worked and came out exactly like the perfect desktop directions. The only reason I made a clean install is because I don't have enough bandwith to do the upgrade, and I can do the install and updates a little at a time. Please advise as to how I can get this Mandriva 2009 to look like the set up before I start with the rest of the process. Or should I go back to the 2008 that I know will look and act right.

This sounds as if you installed the KDE version of Mandriva and not GNOME.
