Hi All, during resync of my raid1 partition (md0) my ubuntu 8.10 suddenly freezes, with the following error on the console; HARDWARE ERROR CPU 0: Machine Check Exception 4 Bank 4: b2000000000000070f0f TSC 1c3469a27ae This is not a software problem! Run through mcelog –ascii to decode and contact your hardware manufacturer Kernel panic - not syncing: machine check. my setup is; md2 : active raid1 sda4[0] sdb4[1] 47881664 blocks [2/2] [UU] md1 : active raid1 sda3[0] sdb3[1] 97659008 blocks [2/2] [UU] md0 : active raid1 sda2[0] 97659008 blocks [2/1] [U_] does anybody know what is happening here? should a fsck on this /dev/sda2 will do anything? any other things i can test? thanks in advance
Did you google parts of the strings of the error message? Maybe some things in those threads may lead you any further. http://kerneltrap.org/node/4993 (http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF...1&q=g+CPU+0:+Machine+Check+Exception+4+Bank+4)
Is md0 your /boot partition? Do you see anything like Nov 22 18:51:06 server1 kernel: sdb: Current: sense key: Aborted Command Nov 22 18:51:06 server1 kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev sdb, sector 1465142856 in your logs?
