    A quick question.

Take a simple linux box and make it a media server. Easy.

But hook it up to a TV. So when you boot up the PC it will connect to the TV via any AV port and then with remote or keyboard or tv Tuner remote you can play video.

Do you have a TV card? Have you tried MythTV?

I have neither a tuner card nor tried MythTV. I will investigate.

My reasoning is this. Weve had DVD technology for over 10 years now. Bluray is coming in at 25 and 50GB.

However hard drive space is surpassing 1TB now. It would be much easier to have a media device that you could connect to the TV and play all your content from there. Also I can only imagine the time its going to take when converting a .avi to a HD bluray image. Simply just copy you .avi to your media box and play.

    Have a look at this.

Surely one can create something similar from a box and some linux code.

With a little bit of more research I would have seen I answered my own question. Thanks Falko.
