This probably belongs under the beginner's forum, but I was having some technical difficulties. I understand Linux command options; however, I don't understand the differences between metacharacters and wildcards. Does the difference lie within what they are applied to?
I suppose it would depend on the context, but all wildcard characters are meta characters, most meta characters are not wildcard characters but serve some other use.
