Hi there. We are about to decomission our oldest server running Debian 6.0 with latest updates installed. A new server is to be put in place with the same Debian, same network settings, but different hardware configuration. I'm planning on doing the new installation and then migrate all ispconfig3 data to the new server. Can anybody please tell me how to proceed with this? Thanks very much Ignacio
Have you thought about creating an image (e.g. with CloneZille, Ghost4Linux, dd, etc.) of the current machine and then installing the image on the new system?
Hi Falko. Thanks for your reply. I usually do that, but this time we're talking here moving from Debian 6.0 32-bits to Debian 6.0 64-bits with md raid1. What I've done so far is: 1.- I've installed Debian on the new machine and installed the same deb packages I had in the old server in the new one 2.- I've copied the necessary config files and dirs in /etc (amavis, postfix, postgrey, etc.) from old server to new server 3.- I've copied from /var/lib the directories vmail, spool, mail, mysql and www from old to new. 4.- I've copied /usr/local/ispconfig from old to new Now as we speak I'm in the process of starting services and testing how they work. I'm concerned with ispconfig3 still thinking I'm on the old hardware and software configuration. What do you think? Thanks, Ignacio
I just need to add that after so many hours I got it working. Last step would be: 5.- Copy /var/log/ispconfig to new server, too. Regards, Ignacio
