I've been using ISPconfig3 for several years on a Ubuntu 20.04.6 LTS which I'd like to "refresh". If I'm going to install on a new server and then migrate all the data across, I'd like to have the possibility in future to have this part of a multi-server setup and add a second server down the line running the same full set of services. A few questions: Is this supported? How do I install my new server now? Do I start with the multi-server install even if I don't have a second server to set up right now? Assuming I go down the multi-server install on the new system, does that have any implications in how I migrate the data across (I might use the tool, I need to decide what's best). Thanks for any suggestions!
Yes. No, just set up a single server system. https://www.howtoforge.com/ispconfig-autoinstall-debian-ubuntu/ This system can become later the master of your new multiserver setup. If you want to use Ubuntu 24.04 and not 22.04, then you will have to wait until ISPConfig supports it. Currently the Rspamd repo has no packages for Ubuntu 24.04 yet, so we can't finish the Ubuntu 24.04 release until rspamd has the packages available. You can do the migration with the ISPConfig Migration Tool.
Thank you Till! I guess it's also OK to install a Debian 12 OS rather than a Ubuntu 22.02 ? (I'm staying away from 24 and have come to prefer the simpler Debian install without all the hassle of snap packages).
That's totally fine and I personally prefer Debian over Ubuntu for my servers anyway I just mentioned Ubuntu as you were using Ubuntu already.
