Sorry but it is every time the same, there are a lot of fin tutorials about round cube extension on a ISPConfig server etc. There are lot of pages to install Roundcube on debian ubuntu etc, on the net. the is a formitable excelent auto install script to set up an ISPConfig server. But there is nothing to I can find how to set up the roundcube website itself. I have the ISPConfig 3 install manual but it is years old and there are a lot of changes and extensions in the meantime. I want have a clean new server and not full of files from tryings. If her should be an actuell manual I will buy it at once. I remember it was a crime getting my first roundcube to run. But this on was on an ESXi server Ramsonware killed me last friday So I am setting up an new server on debian 11 . The server is ready now, the only thing missing is Roundcube web site. Can anybody give me a hint please. I have getup the system as soon as possible. Regards Rainer
Nothing needs to be set up. Roundcube is installed an operational when the auto installer finished, unless you use the commandline flag to not install it. And roundcube is not installed in a website on an ISPConfig system, it is installed in the apps vhost and you access it by simply clicking on the email icon in the mailbox list. So there is no tutorial missing as you claimed in your first post.
"access it by simply clicking on the email icon in the mailbox list" sorry but I can not find the Icon, not creating the mailbox. and do not finde this "list"
Sorry, I thought you used ISPConfig already, according to your first post, but I must have misunderstood you there. Everyone who created at least a single mailbox knows where the mailboxes are listed in ISPConfig. It's really easy, click on "Email" in the top menu and then on "Email mailbox" in the menu on the left side and there in the list, you have an icon with a letter on it for each mailbox to access RoundCube. Please see this guide on how to get started with ISPConfig and how to create your first mailbox: https://www.howtoforge.com/ispconfig-email-account/
Simple Question, I create a Mailbox for I user of a customer. How can the user access his mailbox via roundcube, even if it uses IMAP normaly. But i.e. if he wants to change his password he has to use roundcube via http.
Sorry I use ISPConfig since years, and the mailserver I used in a multiuser system was set up at least 10 years ago, and updated from debian 8 or 9 to 10 and also updated when a new ISPConfig version came up.. At that time there was not Icon, I found it now it is so small I did not recognized it and did not look for it. So it seams to have once click the icon to activate the URL servername/webmail That url was whatI tried first as i new from the old server, but the browser did notfind something
RoundCube is an Imap email client, your customer accesses it in the same way that you as admin access it. He clicks on the icon in the mailbox list in his ISPConfig account. I described to you where to find it, scroll up and see my other posts. It's in the same place when your customers log into ISPConfig. Of course, as with any URL and browser app, you can also note down or save the URL as a bookmark. The URL depends on your systems installation, typically its at: https://your.hostname.tld:8081/webmail but using the webmail icon as described is the easiest way to get the exact URL for your system. Passwords for mail accounts are changed in ISPConfig. Your customer can either log in with his client login when he wants to manage multiple mail accounts or add mail accounts, or your customer can log in with his email address and email password into ISPConfig and change his password via the email login.
Clients have access to the panel, resellers have access to the panel and even email account users have access to the panel.
Thanks very much and sorry I was still on the old stand I knew from years ago. The users normally connect through IMAP with their Outlook etc. Clients. If there was a ne user I create the Mailbox gave an initial password, the user loged in servername/webmail changed the password there and everything was ok. So never needed to look for other newer solutions. Have a nice evening Thanks again Rainer P.S. have no resellers just clients who have their mailboxes and some I host their websites. So no need to login to the panel.
That still works if ISPConfig Roundcube plugins are installed. Autoinstall does not install those, but they can be installed manually. I believe this is the latest tutorial: https://www.howtoforge.com/install-ispconfig-3-roundcube-plugins-on-debian-10/
