I'm looking at moving a pair of Master DNS Servers running on aging Solaris Sun Servers through to a replacement pair of DNS Servers running Bind on Redhat. I'm not exactly sure of the way to accomplish this task and would apprecciate your advise please. I have taking a backup copy of existing zone files from the CNR DNS Servers. Can I copy these zone files directly onto the replacement RedHat Servers ? What considertations do I need to take into account ? Can I make the Redhat Servers intially as slaves to the master DNS Servers and then convert them to master DNS Servers ? Has anyone undertaken this task previously ? I look forward to your replies. To be honest, I never worked with CNR DNS - but I guess you could make bind acting as slave, getting zones transfered and make it master afterwards. https://www.safaribooksonline.com/library/view/dns-bind/0596004109/ch05s25.html
