hello, very happy with ispconfig. my setup is made of : 3 db servers, 3 mail servers, 3 web servers (web1 2 & 3), 2 dns server. All this stuff on promox VM. i want to add another web server dedicated to the control panel website (+phpmyadmin). those elements are actuelly host on web server 1 (web1). Do you have any idea for doing that ?
I think you already know that there can only be one control panel website for ISPConfig but of course you can create a cluster for high availability and redundancy and there is already a tutorial, if not tutorials, for that. Plus I remember @till said creating a snapshot of ISPConfig master server as a form of backup will help you to quickly restore in case of its breakdown.
Making a new server the controlpanel server instead of existing web1 is not that easy, as the control panel server always has the server_id 1 and this server_id is taken by web1 already. The best option would probably be to make a new server web4 and move all sites from web1 to web4 and then web1 then becomes (or better stays) the dedicated controlpanel server.
