Is it possible to do a multiserver setup with servers on two different domains like below? cp.example.com dns1.example.com mx1.example.com mx2.example.net dns2.example.net web.example.net I ask this question because when I try this setup, everything goes well except that after installing server 4 the hostname of this server does not show up in System/IP Addresses. Kind regards,
Yes. Your issue with IP addresses is not related to the domain you used. You probably do not have a server name set under System > server services.
Did you maybe install or add the servers more than once, and the IP addresses you see there are remnants from a prior install attempt?
No, I started with 6 freshly installed minimal Debian 12 VM's and followed the manual https://www.howtoforge.com/tutorial/ispconfig-multiserver-setup-debian-ubuntu/ I also checked beforehand the DNS, everything is resolving both ways. Had no other errors or warnings during the configuration of the first 4 servers. But I am reluctant to go on with server 5 and 6....
Server 1 = CP and WEB = cms.xfold.nl (install OK) Server 2 = Primary DNS = dms.xfold.nl (install OK) Server 3 = Primary MAIL = ems.xfold.nl (install OK) Server 4 = Secondary MAIL = xms.xfold.net (install OK, is mirror of Server 3) The next two servers I did not yet install because of the problem! Server 5 = Secondary DNS = yms.xfold.net Server 6 = WEB and RCmail = zms.xfold.net
Hi Till, Thanks for your quick and clear reaction. I'll install the other two servers and expect that all will be OK. Regards, ebbarkj
