Hi, It is better to keep the ISPConfig 3 using bind instead of mydns? For me it was perfect using Bind. []'s
We will support bind later too. Bind is not able to run with data from a mysql databse without patches.
But why choose MyDNS, a product that hasn't been developed for more than two years with bugs and DOS exploits? This is preventing me from using ispconfig 3 at the time being. Will you switch to bind in the release version of ispconfig 3?
There are new releases of mydns, just the name has changed. The latest release is from august 18. http://sourceforge.net/projects/mydns-ng No. But we might support bind with a plugin.
But in the beta release you still point to http://mydns.bboy.net/download/mydns-1.1.0.tar.gz (according to the INSTALL_UBUNTU_8.04.txt in the latest beta)
I have not written this guide and there is nothing wrong to use the mydns 1.1.0 version when you install it as described in the guide as mydns is not a recursive resolver and so not affected by the latest dns caching problems.
but there is also a bug outside of the recursive resolver: http://www.securityfocus.com/bid/23694 and http://secunia.com/advisories/25007 do you use the fixes when you configure mydns?
1) Remote Dynamic DNS update is disabled and not used by ISPConfig. 2) The DOS problem is patched at least in debian. http://www.frsirt.com/english/advisories/2007/4228 I can add a note to poeple who want to compile it manually to use mydns-ng intsead or use the sources from debian.
Hello. I read that you are going to support bind in ispconfig with a plugin. Did you implemented it ? I think bind is more powerfull . How can we make bind to read data from mysql ? Thank you
ISPConfig 2 does support BIND. Or are you referring to ISPConfig 3? Till is working on BIND support in ISPConfig 3.
I read somewher in the net , that bind has mysql support, but with some patch. And because I am new I don't know how to patch .
