ok last night after i headed off to bed something went wrong with my dedicated server mysql completely messed up some how not sure how but it did, i re-installed it but now im just getting these two errors im completely lost and i dont know what to do from here,

    ERRORS :

Timeout error occurred trying to start MySQL Daemon.
    Starting MySQL: [FAILED]

    [root@cl-45 ~]# mysqladmin -u root password ******
mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed
error: 'Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)'
Check that mysqld is running and that the socket: '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' exists!

Any help would be great, thanks Rick

What is the contents of your mysql error log? (usually located in your mysql data folder)

Concentrate on this three things mysql.sock, mysql.pid & .cnf.
